Thursday afternoon we drove to Chipperfield, about 20 minutes, and took a lovely walk through the woods behind the Chipperfield Church. Due to all the extra rainfall the woods felt like a rainforest. The soil was so moist and fragrant and all the follage so lush.
The sign "Permissive Bridleway" gives permission to horse riders to use this trail. There was fresh evidence that horse riders had been there recently :).
Hilary was diligently picking her way around the mud. It was weird to be walking through muddy soil at this time of year.
Wild berry bushes were growing everywhere.
Flint is in the ground and so the church walls are flint.
U. S. President Jimmy Carter's ancestors were property owners in Chitterfield and prominent members of this community. This is hard to see, it was very faded but you can kind of make out Jimmy Carter photo. The caption says that his family were land owners of the Manor and Palm Farm and early immigrants to America.
This is the Manor House once owned by the Carters.
When we exited the woods and walked up the lane to the car there were beautiful homes and gardens along the way.
This building is located across from the church and down a little.
