Sunday afternoon in London;
We got to Howard and Jill's studio at the Barbican, which is a huge complex with a Center building containing restaurant, theatre, art displays, and more, dropped off our luggage and prepared the room for later sleeping. We then took and train and then bus to Roman Road where Carla and Matt live in their new home. There new "flat" is a fantastic two bedroom, what we would call a townhouse set up but there is a flat above and below them as well as either side. It is a large complex that looks onto a new lovely garden at the back. It has a nice separate entry with room for wet coats and muddy shoes. Then you enter through a second door to an intimate dining area that flows into the main living space. As you enter the door, if you turn to the left you enter the kitchen with a nice big window over the sink area lighting up the space. Upstairs are two bedrooms, a sink and bathtub/shower and separate water closet all connected by a nice size landing. No pictures of the flat this time due to on-going touches here and there by the new proud owners. Here is a photo of the proud owners and proud mom.
Carla and Matt prepared a wonderfully colorful and delicious lunch for Hilary and I which included stuffed mushrooms, a salad of butter beans, green beans, carrots, and feta cheese, a courgette lasagne, lamb and couscous patties, and Turkish bread. It was a feast and I thoroughly enjoyed every bite!
We all went for a walk to Victoria Park nearby which is skirted by a canal. There was water standing in many places in the park because of so much rain.
On the way back the skies opened and we got a bit wet sharing two umbrellas as we hadn't worried about the weather when we started out :) . We made it back to the flat and visited a while longer until the rain let up then Hilary and I walked back up to the bus, then train and back to the studio. We had a bit to eat at the restaurant there and then settled in for the night because we had an early travel day leaving at 6:00 a.m. for the train station.
